CMS Dashboard UI
Project Summary
Connecting car buyers and dealerships is at the core of Capital One's digital products and is a key driver in signing new clients. This is the Dealer Navigator CMS tool that enables sales associates to track where customers are at in their car purchasing journey, from kicking the tire to finalizing their purchase.
My role in this project was to help the product team create the overall UI design and accompanying widgets for the CMS to help improve the overall experience for end-users.
Design Scope
Partnered with designers and PMs to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI comps for a CMS dashboard and accompanying widgets. Collaborating with the Lead UX Designer on the Client Success team, we outlined the necessary design tasks to translate the concept into a tangible reality.
Acceptance Criteria
Dashboard Design
Design the overall dashboard layout and content while adhering to the Capital One branding guidelines to maintain a cohesive look & feel.
Widget Design
Create additional widgets that can easily integrate with the dashboard. Design to scale to ensure that it can be easily customized depending on customer's desired data as they arise.
Design System
Utilize the existing design system and create any new components during the design process.
The Solution
Leveraging the Client Success team's research and the existing design library, my goal was to use these assets as a base to build the dashboard and accompanying widgets.
Initial concepts were developed for the user interface of the dashboard. These explorations comprised a list of essential features, which were then shared with stakeholders to provide a clearer representation of the interface.
Also, I worked alongside our Product Designer to gain insights into the car shopping journey, particularly when a customer pre-qualifies for a car. This effort provided me with a deeper understanding of the needs of our users, the sales associates, in effectively assisting their customers, the car shoppers, in finding a vehicle that aligns with their preferences and budgetary constraints.
Dashboard Design
These interfaces were designed and implemented with the Dealer Navigator product team. After development the product was shipped to a few of our clients, local dealerships for initial testing and feedback. Our clients saw immediate success with our product including improved customer satisfaction, increased client acquisition, and ultimately driving positive business impact.
Dealer Specific Widgets
In addition to designing the dashboard layout, widgets were created to provide stats/data to sales associates. These widgets can be fully customized to display specific KPIs the client wants to display.
They provide business with data insights and analytics on available leads, inventory and sales performance. This information empowers sales associates to engage more leads, generate more sales, and optimize their inventory.
Design System
This design library contains foundational elements such as color, typography, iconography, and more to support designers and developers maintain a cohesive standard and efficiency. I helped attribute to our design library by creating reusable components like new icons, this helped designers save production time.
Conclusion
Ultimately, this project resulted in several successful tangible business outcomes. Capital One experienced an increase in client acquisition due to the enhanced functionality and usability of the Dealer Navigator CMS tool. Also, by streamlining the car purchasing journey for customers and empowering sales associates, the company was able to strengthen its position in the market and drive business growth.
Furthermore, through team collaboration and iterative design processes, the product team successfully transformed the user experience, resulting in improved customer satisfaction, increased client acquisition, and driving an overall positive business impact.
